Nothing in life is perfect and likewise each breast augmentation option has its own set of benefits, risks and trade-offs. This includes silicone, saline, round and smooth breast implants, placed under or above the muscle, via the breast fold, axilla (armpit) or via the pink area round the nipple (areola).

Occasionally, breast implants may be placed at the same time as a breast lift when there is excessive loss of fullness and drooping of the breast, usually as a result of breast feeding.

Recent developments in techniques and implant technology have enabled breast implant surgery to result in a much more natural look and feel. BREAST LIFT (MASTOPEXY)

Lifts, firms and reshapes the breast without increasing the actual breast size or weight. This may be performed at the same time as a breast augmentation with breast implants if increased breast fullness is required. A variety of short incision techniques is available.

BREAST REDUCTION

Excessively large and sagging breasts that are out of proportion with the body. Associated problems are often back and neck pain, tiredness, skin rashes, shoulder grooving and finding suitable clothing is often a problem. Many women suffer from poor body image due to their large breasts which are usually difficult to hide, resulting in lowered self-esteem and poor self-confidence.

Dr Moss performs many breast reduction procedures. With the effective and safe techniques available today, a woman does not have to endure the physical and psychological problems associated with excessively large breasts. Dr Moss understands it is difficult for some women to discuss this particular problem, however he and his staff are very sympathetic to the correction of excessively large breasts and can offer much advice and support.

The procedure itself involves removing excess breast tissue and skin plus reshaping the breast, often with reduction of the areola (the dark area surrounding the nipple). Unequally sized breasts can be made more even. Your requested breast size is confirmed at your consultation.

Some scars are inevitable with this procedure. The incisions are made vertically down the breast from under the areola scar, and sometimes horizontally along the crease underneath the breast, forming the shape of an inverted 'T'. These scars fade in time and most patients are so pleased with the results of this particular type of surgery the scars are insignificant compared with their improved lifestyle and confidence. Liposuction is often used to achieve refinement in the shape of the breasts. Patient satisfaction is very high.

BREAST CORRECTION

Many women who suffer from irregular breast shapes, uneven breasts, tuberous (tubular) breasts, or nipples that are uneven or inverted, often believe they are the only ones and that nothing can be done. While these conditions are usually due to inherited traits, they are surprisingly common, and can be corrected through special procedures performed regularly by Dr Moss. Reconstructive surgery may involve combinations of augmentation, lift, reduction and corrective techniques.

This is a surgical procedure to rebuild the contour of the breast. Nipple and areola reconstruction is also performed when required. Dr Moss can also treat inverted (in-turned) nipples and excess nipple overgrowth (hypertrophy).
